Makalidurga is a hill fort situated near the village of the same name. It is 60 km north of Bangalore with a height of 1,117 mts. The fort at the summit has an old temple of Shiva with Nandi and in legend Markandeya Rishi performed penance here.
Makalidurga Fort stands at the top of a huge granite hillock, huddled up amidst the chains of hills, formed like a valley close to GhatiSubramanya, a well-known pilgrimage center. Top of Makalidurg hill enables one to witness mesmerizing sunset.
It has become one of the trekking destination for adventurers and rewarded with the enchanting views of a lake that surrounds the hill and resembles to South American Continent.

Leaving from Bangalore to Makalidurga base which is about 60 Km away from Bangalore, in which we would have an informal introduction and some fun activity. We would be having our breakfast on the way before reaching the base of the hill. We will be going in Train to reach the Makalidurga village from there we will walk to base.
The trek will start by walking behind the temple. The initial stretch for few meters is flat path with open space. After that we will start ascending.
Once we start ascending, we will be trekking through a forest which is not so dense, but bit rocky. One can have a nice bouldering experience.
The summit can be easily viewed from this point. We would ascend towards summit for another climb towards the Makalidurga summit. There is a temple on the peak.
We would have our packed food on the peak. Take some photos, we will spend some time on the summit then will come back to the point where we can vitnes a mesmerizing sunset.
We will start descending to the base after sunset and then back to Bangalore.
