Nature Walkers has crafted a Backpacking Itinerary from the Intricate chain on mountains of Himachal Pradesh covering a road trip through snow-clad mountains, pristine lakes and cascading streams and a paragliding experience from the highest launching site in whole India.  

Himachal Backpacking peregrinate through myriad of religious places, ancient monasteries, thick forest valleys and heritage sites. Himachal is loved by adventurers and mountain riders as the mountain road trip is a joyful experience of curvy roads with vibrant sceneries. 

It takes a lifetime to soak up the intrigue Tibetan culture and the aroma of beautiful Himachal but we have concise the fun and experience in just 7 days of Himachal Backpacking. The initial day or two of Himachal Backpacking dwells into the suburbs of Dharamshala and the world-famous Dalai Lama Temple, then we soar our adrenaline while gliding through the high mountains and deep gorges with our parachute in second part of Himachal Backpacking.

Short Itinerary

Day 1: 

  • Reach Mcleodganj, Enjoy Sightseeing and Night Stay in Hotel

Day 2: 

  • Day Trek to Triund and return.  Night Stay in Mcleodganj

Day 3:  

  • Drive from Mcleodganj to Bir, Monasteries tour in Bir, Night Stay in Bir

Day 4:

  • Paragliding in Bir, Drive from Bir to Borat, Night Stay in Borat

Day 5:

  • Drive from Borat to Mcleodganj and Depart

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Reach Mcleodganj and Explore Namgyal Monastery

Reach Mcleodganj, our representative will pick you up from the bus stand and take you the hotel where you can check in and fresh up. Have your breakfast and morning coffee admiring the view through the café. Today we are going to do sightseeing of the beautiful town Mcleodganj covering the famous Namgyal Monastery, The Dalai Temple and Bhagsu Waterfall so gear up your day pack bag and hope into the car.

We will travel to Dharamshala and visit Namgyal Monastery. This monastery is founded in 1965 by Third Dalai Lama Gendun Gyatso, which now is the personal monastery of the 14th Dalai Lama. From here we will continue to Bhagsu Waterfall situated near Bhagsu Village. We will spend some time in the presence of majestic and cascading waterfall, take some picture and head back to Mcleodganj for delicious dinner and night stay.

Day 2: Triund Trek

Today we are hike up to Triund Peak. So, wake up early, have your breakfast and gear up for an amazing trek. It is relatively easy trek with little tricky patches. We will cover a total distance of 9km in this trek. Triund Trek passes through dense forest of pine trees. You will surely enjoy the stunning view of the valley while climbing.

We will have our packed lunch on the peak and then start our descend. We will reach back Mcleodganj at early evening, fresh up at the hotel and head for some street shopping. The evening walk through the lit-up shops is another relaxing moment of the day. We will have our dinner and rest another night of Himachal Backpacking in Mcleodganj.

Day 3: Mcleodganj to Bir

Third day of our Himachal Backpacking is a road trip from Mcleodganj to Bir. It is the small town located close to 80km from Mcleodganj. We will have our breakfast, check-out the hotel and head to Bir.

Today we will spend the day visiting monasteries like Nyingyang monastery, Sherabling monastery, Chokling monastery. Soak up all the Tibetan cultural vibes here and enjoy the evening in cafes. We will check-in to the hotel here, have dinner and sleep for the night in Bir.

Day 4: Paragliding in Bir and then Bir to Borat

Wake early, have light breakfast as today you will be enjoying paragliding experience. From Bir we will climb our vehicle to another 18km to Billing which is the launching site for our paragliding. Some people also prefer to trek from Bir to Billing but that’s another itinerary. We will gear up our gliders and soar into the sky. Each glider is maneuvered by an experience and certified guide so, you just need to sit, relax and take amazing photos and video while he flies you through the clouds.

We will land in Bir, please keep up the excitement high as after the paragliding we will be road tripping to Borat which is another 80km from Bir. It is small village located in Mandi district next to the banks of Uhl river. After we reach Borat, we will check-in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day by the riverside admiring the surrounding here. Late at the evening we will have our dinner and sleep in Borat.

Day 5: Borat to Mcleodganj and Departure

As it’s the last day of our trip, we have kept it light. We will have our breakfast and leave to explore the Borat Valley, visit Borat temple and Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary.

We will head back to Mcleodganj post lunch and reach in the evening. From here you can depart with all the memories we all gathered together from the beautiful Himachal Backpacking trip. Chao.

Safety,Risk and Advisory

We develop our itinerary without compromising anything regards to Safety. We are aware that you would have concern regarding travelling this post covid lockdown but we take several measures to make the trip safe for you. We strongly recommend all the travellers in the trip to gain a Covid-19 Test certification. Apart from that we also sanitize the vehicle and homestay/campsite thoroughly before using it. We have made the use of face mask mandatory at public places and travel destination. Although its difficult to trek with face mask on, we strongly monitor the protocol of social distancing.   • Please carry Xerox copy of Pan Card or Aadhar Card, as its same is required to permission from the Forest Department. 
  • Non – Indian nationals will have to pay additional cost of Rs. 1300/- toward forest permission. 
  • We strictly DO NOT ALLOW consumption of Alcohol, Beer, smoking or intoxicants on out trek. We request you to please co-operate with us to the make the experience more enjoyable. 
  • Requesting our participant to DO NOT EXPECT any kind of luxury on the trek. We host our treks in remote location and do our best to arrange the basic necessary facilities for our participant. The objective is to experience the local outdoor. 
  • We provide hot vegetarian food on our treks. If in case we can arrange Non-Veg, we would inform you on the trek. 
  • DO NOT wear tight pants; tight pants are not comfortable for treks as the leg motion is restricted. 
  • DO NOT carry valuable ornaments; it can cause unnecessary trouble if misplaced. (Nature Walkers do not take any responsibility of your ornaments). 
  • DO NOT wear black or dark cloths and perfume on the trek (as some insects get attracted to dark color and perfumes) 
  • Please put the little at its place, we request to not trash the trek or the accommodation facility. 
  • If in case of traffic delay, we request our participants to expect little delay in reaching the destination. 
  • 8 to 20 Members 
  • We get equal boys to girls ratio for most of our treks/trips 
  • We require a minimum of 8 participant to confirm the event 
  • If in case, we fail to obtain the required minimum number of participants. We would initiate full refund or transfer to another event for the same departure date. (Option of transfer shall be subject to payment/refund of balance amount if any) 

FAQs

Nature Walkers shall follow all the basic Covid Guidelines like Face Mask, Hand Sanitizer, Vehicle and Homestay Sanitization with Temperature Check. It is mandatory to carry Covid Vaccination Certificate if you have been vaccinated with both the doses on Trek. If you have Vaccinated only with one dose or have not got vaccinated,  then you would need RTPCR Negative Test Report to join this Trek. As It might be inconvience if the state government rule changes after your do your registration or after you begin your travel and it would be difficult to find covid test centers nearby to your travel destinations.
